Year in Review

Well this year has been a year. I mean it’s been 365 days. I mean 12 months. Anyways you know what I mean. I always like to reflect on the past year and hold myself accountable more. Whether I am happy with the results I accomplished or I take a long hard look of what I still need to work on. No one else will hold me accountable so it’s up to me to reflect and to adapt.

Successes.

• I published my first book.

• I did an artshow.

• I ran tough mudder again. (4x yessssss)

• I got a song on spotify published ( Precious One by R.F.)

• I had a birthday hahah 35 wooohooooo!

• I have been focusing more on balance between work, life and family time.

• Being more present with my prayers at mass and during the life. (not perfect)

• Consistently working out daily. ( I am a strong dude lol)

• Expecting our second child!!

Items to work on.

• Stop worrying about everything all at once.

• Trying to do to much too quickly.

• Work on my healthy eating habits more ( stop eating junk nonstop, and focus on heart health a lot more. I have the strength now need to focus on mind health and heart health.)

• Being present in the moment with family, friends, self.

• Working on my faith and prayer life more.

• Stick to my routines even when I lose motivation.

Now this isn’t everything I’ve accomplished nor everything that i messed up with. It is just some highlights that have been in my thoughts recently. I encourage you all to take a moment and think about the good, the bad, and the ugly in your life before the new year starts. A refection on where to go next. Happy New Years to everyone. Stay safe and get ready for your best year yet!!!!

Food Season

November marks the beginning of the best food season of the year. We have turkey on Thanksgiving, rib roast for Christmas, and all the sugary goodies to go along with it. I think the most lonely food of the season are the candied yams.

A long, long time ago, when I was working at Disney World we had a friendsgiving party. All our coworkers wanted to put together a fun shin dig and everyone brought a side dish. Some people grabbed paper plates and napkins (boring), others brought stuffing. I decided I would bring a magnificent dish called candied yams. When I announced it to the group they all looked at me oddly and said “umm cool, that sounds okay.”

I worked in the kitchen all day cutting and chopping the yams. I even talked to the yams to make sure they felt welcome. After about 8 hours they were ready to be consumed. I swiftly wrapped them up to preserve the heat and scurried over to the party. I was expected to be welcomed with open arms and heralded as the king of the party. Alas, I show up and no one was there to grab the glorious dish from my hands.

I asked Craw (my future wife) “I made the yams, where can I place them?”

She then stated “ Ummm.. just put them on the stove over there.”

“Alrighty put them over there, away from all the other cool side dishes. I just hope people will eat them.”

“Oh yeah, we are excited to eat the yams.” Craw said with a smirk on her face.

Well let’s just say no one ate the yams. After about three hours of hanging out, no one ate the yams.

All of my hard work didn’t pay off. They lonely yams sat there staring at all the side dishes. The stuffing and cranberries weren’t neglected.The turkey was a hit dish (I haven’t the slightest reason why). However, my exquisite dish was banished away from the party and eventually travelled into the trash can.

Yams are the most lonely food of the season. No one will eat them ever. Moral of the story, don’t make any extravagant side dishes for parties. They won’t ever get eaten. Be the person who brings paper plates. I’m kidding, just don’t create candied yams for people who can’t appreciate the wonders of that side dish.

Life is precious.

Life is so precious.

Everday we have is a blessing,

and often times we don’t realize it.

You can do awesome things in this world.

You were created for something special. I don’t know what that is for you, and chances are you may not know either. That doesn't mean you just avoid it all together.

Just start trying new things and see where it goes.

It may be messy and chaotic at first as you learn to grow. You will mess up, and mess up again. However don’t quit. Never quit pursuing your dreams. Try, try, and try again until finally you accomplish what is on your heart.

Life is so precious,

don’t waste away and never fulfill your potential.

Don’t let your life pass by.

It’s already been a crazy ride this year, and it’s only May.

No matter how crazy, or stressful your life gets, remember you have people in you life who love you.

No matter what’s going on in your life,

or if the weight of the world seems a bit too heavy lately, remember, everything is going to be alright.

There is so much noise out there to distract you, to wear you out.

Be stronger than that.

Keep living and keep breathing.

Stay positive and keep that door open for new people to enter your life.

Who knows? Maybe that person will change your life.

Christmas Time is here.

The evergreen smell is filling our house as we prepare to get ready for Christmas this year. I enjoy Christmas so much and I love spending time with my family. This year we get to wake up and see the face of our little Adalaide smiling at the sight of Christmas morning. (well probably drooling and crying because… she is a baby) Words can’t describe this upcoming feeling of wanting to start these new traditions with her. My whole life I got to enjoy the traditions of our family from being a little tike to being an adult. However, now we get to embrace new traditions and new joys of having a little one in our home on Christmas morning. It is a surreal feeling. I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and hope you keep up the traditions you had as a child every year. Enjoy the memories this upcoming holiday and be present in the moment. Social media should take a step back and really enjoy the company of others this weekend

Memories

come back into our head,

after the scents

of Gingerbread,

and carols of yesteryear

echoe in our ears.

Gather around the table,

and feast on the finest Roastbeast.

as merriment, happiness, and joy

converse among our family cheer.

No sorrow, no pain , no worry, no angst

let us hold off and have an armistice

until tomorrow or forever

Be what you want

How many people walk through life feeling miserable and never choosing to accomplish their dream? I think we all know someone who wakes up miserable , works all day, and goes to bed miserable. At what point in our life do we become blobs of negativity?

I never grew up thinking life was going to suck or be painful or dreadful every day of the year. In fact, I always thought I would grow up to be a famous musician or an actor on the stage. Hahah neither ever happened…yet. Instead, I work in insurance and offer people savings everyday. The monotony can be excruciating at times. However, a few years ago, I decided I wanted more in life and to have a fulfilled purpose. I wanted to wake up everyday feeling alive. That is when I decided to just be me and do my crazy weird drawings and writings and send a smile everyday to people who would look my way. I was tired of “ pleasing other people” and hiding my true nature of being positive or creative because others may think of me as weird. I was behaving like a chubby unicorn when in reality I was a rhino!

I don’t know if you are going through this now. But stop faking being a Chubby Unicorn when you really are a Rhino. Stop trying to impress people you can’t stand and faking your way through life. There is a point where we will all face this crossroad in life where we can decide who we want to be or have others decide who we are meant to be. I would rather decide for myself than being told what to be or what to do. I have no idea of all the answers to life. I do know this one thing though.

If you are true to yourself , then the rest will work its way out. Take it one day at a time and do what you love, that weight of impressing others will slowly lift off your shoulders and you can finally awaken each day feeling alive.

I"m a little tea pot...

I’m a little teapot
Short and stout.
Here is my handle,
Here is my spout.
When I get all steamed up
Hear me shout:

And pour me out!

Never in a million years would I have thought I’d be a father of a tiny precious girl. The moment I saw her my heart exploded with all kinds of emotions and pure love. It made me realize more than ever that I’m the one who she will look up to. (literally and figuratively) I’ve been a big brother for a long time but to have a child of my own was so foreign to me and made my heart overflow with joy knowing I will be there for her no matter what.

Before having our little girl in our life, I thought I was responsible because I had a dog, and then two dogs. Hahaha man was I wrong. I can’t just leave some water and food out for her and be set for eight hours.

Yes there is chaos, and then more chaos trying to learn what to do with a 2 month old child, but man this ride is awesome. I realize I don’t have to be a perfect dad but I need to be there for the family and try my best. I mean I fail every single day and then mess up the next day. But I know I am trying as hard as I can. It’s really amazing and fun to see a tiny human grow right in front of our very eyes. I can’t wait to see where this new road takes us.

Rain, Rain, Go Away.

Early this week I wrote this poem. I love writing about nature and how it relates to us everyday. From using metaphors of sunshine or in this case rain and relating it back to our everyday life. I love using it as a muse. Well, here’s an inside look of Rex Felixx head when I was writing this poem.

Most of the time I love rainy days. i mean who doesn’t enjoy sitting on their porch and watching the storm clouds roll in? These past few years have been very hard for myself and for many people I have had conversations with. Chaos seems to be running rampant these days, and it seems that there isn’t much we can do about it. Well I want you to know that you are loved, and that these storms will pass soon enough. Remember never give up on life and never feel worthless. You were made for greatness and I want everyone who reads this to know that. Forget all the chaos and know that simple fact.

You have worth.

You have value.

You are awesome!

Keep on holding on and strengthening that foundation, because when your current storm in life passes by remember another is waiting around the corner. It’s better to be prepared than be left out in the cold.

More! More! More!

We all want more in life, our career, and our relationships. Every day we are blasted by never having enough stuff. Advertising telling us how to think, look, and what food to eat. Now I’m not opposed to having a successful life. I mean we do live in America and should have that excitement to pursue our dreams. You can do anything and be whatever you want. Keep learning and growing.

I think it’s good to take a moment sometimes and reflect on what you have already. Realize the loved ones you have in your life. That job you “hate” maybe isn’t so bad. Now I never think you should settle in life and give up dreaming. However its probably not great to always want, want, and want. Find a balance between the two extremes. Enjoy what you have and still pursue the best version of yourself. Go ahead and buy that fancy shiny thing that everyone else has too, just because it seems cool. haha.. Keep living and go after that dream!!!

Moral of the story :

Enjoy what you have

and don’t dwell on what can be.

Dream and pursue those dreams but never lose sight

of what you have and who is in your awesome life already.

Leeches

Beware of Life leeches.

There are so many people out there that are always hiding and waiting to take your love of life away. They will smile and laugh and then will attack you behind your back. Sucking your life dry. They will fester and grow bigger and bigger until you wither away. I have been a naive positive person most of my life. I always took people at face value and believe everyone was like me. I never believed people like this existed. Not until I experienced it personally that I learned there are creatures out there set to latch on and destroy you. It’s a sad life that there are others out there waiting to pounce and ruin you, and make you feel obsolete and loving having control over you.

Don’t let them!

You are amazing and you can only focus on the positives and what you can do in your life. Don’t worry anymore. Keep on smiling and laughing and staying positive. Never let them suck you dry. You can’t change people who are leeches. They can only survive on tearing you down and draining you. Remember they have no power over you.

You are the one in control of your life. It has taken me many years to finally realize that you can only do what you love and others may not like that. That isn’t for you worry or stress about. You have only this life to enjoy, make the best of it.

Leeches + soft skin = destruction

They can’t survive on others when you have tough skin or don’t give them attention. They will never have the control over you then.

Remain true to yourself and forget all the rest. Staying positive and remembering that you were made for a purpose will allow you to succeed in this life.

This rings truer more than ever. In this world of shallow conversations and fake smiles, and trying to impress individuals who don’t care about you. They will never be impressed. They will never love you. Just continue to be yourself and harden your skin. In the end, this will allow you to avoid those negative soulless leeches draining you of your happiness and joy.

Don’t be a life leech.

I repeat, DON’T BE A LIFE LEECH!

Stay strong and continue to love living the best life you can.

Leave the leeches in the stagnate parasitic filled pond from where they come from.
