In a World of Decay.... Be the Beauty.

Ryan Jarosz September 23, 2023

Wandering through this

world of death and decay

realizing something has to change.

Stumbling upon a broken mirror I reflect,

“What do I do?”

“I haven’t the slightest clue

but it seems obvious to me

that the change starts with you.”

RF

I wrote this yesterday morning thinking abut all the craziest happening in this world today and realizing I want more out of this world with the years I have left. I’m guilty of worrying too much about the future and forgetting to be here in the present moment. I wouldn’t say this happens all the time but there are instances where I get caught up in all the dread and get grinded down like a tree stump.

These word came to me after the gym yesterday. I decided I need to type it out quickly before my shattered brain forgets it. Yes, we live in a broken messed up world but that doesn’t mean we have to give up hope or stop trying to better our life, or to help the ones around us.

Change starts with me. I need to take ownership of my failures and my successes. It seems so simple to change, yet we are creatures of habit. We get into a routine and stay with that routine forever. If we want to have an awesome life, world, and future its starts with little changes.

These changes can be as simple as :

Walking more.

Reading more and less scrolling.

Writing your thoughts down more.

Exercising more

.Having actual conversations with human beings more.

I want to be the best person I can be in this world. I also want the world to be better place for me and my family.(selfish thinking I know ) I think instead of trying to change the whole world we need to focus on changing our own life for the better and the world will follow suit. The only way we will be able to change this world is by starting to remove the ugly weeds ands vines suffocating us in this garden of life and start filling our garden with more beauty flowers!

Cheers homies,

Dreaming

Ryan Jarosz July 12, 2023

When did we become so old that we forgot how to dream?

When did we become so cynical that we are so mean?

I’m not that old (36, don’t let the grays fool you) But I notice that every year we get older it seems that we become mad at the life we created. A lot of us stop focusing on the positives in life and continuing to pursue our dreams. We then decide its feels great to become cynical and dull. If anyone tries to achieve a dream , we look at them and say…“Meh.” It’s a cancer that is ruining our lives. It is so easy to mock and laugh at people grinding for their dream. It is also much easier to look at others than to look in the mirror and say “Wow, I want to become something better. I want to be trying to live my life to the fullest.”

We can all achieve an awesome life.

We can all try to be a better person.

We can all decide today that we want to pursue an outlandish idea!

Don’t restrict yourself to never trying!

Go out and be awesome!!!!!!!

Peace out,

Rex Felixx

bzzzzzz into the new year.

Year in Review

Ryan Jarosz December 31, 2022

Well this year has been a year. I mean it’s been 365 days. I mean 12 months. Anyways you know what I mean. I always like to reflect on the past year and hold myself accountable more. Whether I am happy with the results I accomplished or I take a long hard look of what I still need to work on. No one else will hold me accountable so it’s up to me to reflect and to adapt.

Successes.

  • I published my first book.

  • I did an artshow.

  • I ran tough mudder again. (4x yessssss)

  • I got a song on spotify published ( Precious One by R.F.)

  • I had a birthday hahah 35 wooohooooo!

  • I have been focusing more on balance between work, life and family time.

  • Being more present with my prayers at mass and during the life. (not perfect)

  • Consistently working out daily. ( I am a strong dude lol)

  • Expecting our second child!!

Items to work on.

  • Stop worrying about everything all at once.

  • Trying to do to much too quickly.

  • Work on my healthy eating habits more ( stop eating junk nonstop, and focus on heart health a lot more. I have the strength now need to focus on mind health and heart health.)

  • Being present in the moment with family, friends, self.

  • Working on my faith and prayer life more.

  • Stick to my routines even when I lose motivation.

Now this isn’t everything I’ve accomplished nor everything that i messed up with. It is just some highlights that have been in my thoughts recently. I encourage you all to take a moment and think about the good, the bad, and the ugly in your life before the new year starts. A refection on where to go next. Happy New Years to everyone. Stay safe and get ready for your best year yet!!!!

Cheers,
Rex Felixx

P.S. Drink all the champagne… unless you are preggo, or a child, then don’t drink all the champagne, instead eat all the corn, and spam.

Silence...

Ryan Jarosz August 25, 2022

Life has been so chaotic lately. Summertime is always overly busy, and then, in a flash, it’s almost September. Another season begins. I woke up yesterday and forgot my headphones for the gym. I normally love grooving to the tunes while pumping iron but I enjoyed every minute of having no headphones. I was able to walk outside and hear nothing but the breeze rustling the trees and birds waking up the neighborhood. No static just some nice silence from the noise.

Silence is so hard to find these days. People are grinding 24 hrs a day and never stop to sit in silence. I’ve been guilty of it so much lately, just clocking in and clocking out, or non stop social media consumption. Just like chugging 20 red bulls a day isn’t healthy for the heart, neither is non stop working and consumption of social media.

Next time you are heading on a walk or going to the gym take out the headphones and fight the urge of endlessly scrolling your social media pages. A better idea! Find a park bench and just sit and chill for 15 minutes. See how you feel afterward.

Cheers,

Rex Felixx

P.S. Silence is golden.

Perspective is everything

Ryan Jarosz April 14, 2022

1440 minutes in each day is crazy. We all have the same amount of time in each day yet we all use it differently. I waste so much time scrolling through lighted images on my screen and then complain that I have no time left in the day. “Where did the time go?”

Lately I have been especially bad at wasting time. I have just been in a daze, staring at the wall , and then I realize ”Shoot I just wasted an hour.” I don’t know if everyone goes through this, but i want to find a solution.

I think I may start to set my phone down far away from me before I get ready for bed and after I wake up from sleep. I won’t immediately go to my phone to check all my updates. I know this is going to be a challenge for me but I need to break the habit of wasting precious time. Maybe I’m going overboard on it, maybe not. The next few weeks I am going to push myself from aimlessly wasting time, to making sure I am being more intentional with my life, to ensure I have great days ahead. The self absorption is tiresome, and could be the reason why i feel sluggish and not productive.

Cheers to a life worth more than scrolling through digital images, and cat videos,

Rex Felixx

Flocking around

Ryan Jarosz November 11, 2021

Is it me, or does it seem like so many people are so serious all the time. Everyone has an opinion on this, that or whatever else it is to help them sleep better at night. I think it’s okay to be silly and have fun and take a day off from the serious faces. Sit back and enjoy yourself and goof off, I mean flock off. (hahaha sorry dumb cheesy pun) I could actually go for some cheese. Anyways, we should all lighten up and have fun this week. Maybe even next week have some fun too before the winter winds come and make us all depressed with its cold and frost bite on our faces until March of next year.

Flock off if you like,

Enjoy this time to dance, one last dance.

There will always be sorrow

but save that for tomorrow.

Gracias,

Rex Felixx

A walk is good.

Ryan Jarosz October 14, 2021

Walk alone

walk with friends

Walk with you dog name Fred.

Walk through the trees

Walk by yourself or with me

Walk today, to let your mind free.

October is such a fantastic month. Halloween is right around the corner , and the leaves are falling and the colors are rapidly changing from green to gold. Working Monday to Friday can get so tiresome and makes us lethargic. Always punching and punching out, pumping gas on the same day of the week. Making sure to grab your Starbucks or else you get anxious and aggressive. (Starbucks is better than Tim Hortons btw) I think something that is very important, is breaking that monotonous routine and doing something different. A simple walk around the park on your lunch break; Or even a walk through town to look at all the Halloween decorations. It can make your mind relax and reset. Now I don’t mean walking around for 30 minutes and looking at social media the whole time, or Instagraming the perfect shot. Fight that urge urge and just walk. Clear your mind and declutter your brain.

Cheers

Rex Felixx

P.S. The trees look great this time of year. Go out and look.

Pitter patter.

Pitter patter.

Rain, Rain, Go Away.

Ryan Jarosz August 12, 2021

Early this week I wrote this poem. I love writing about nature and how it relates to us everyday. From using metaphors of sunshine or in this case rain and relating it back to our everyday life. I love using it as a muse. Well, here’s an inside look of Rex Felixx head when I was writing this poem.

Most of the time I love rainy days. i mean who doesn’t enjoy sitting on their porch and watching the storm clouds roll in? These past few years have been very hard for myself and for many people I have had conversations with. Chaos seems to be running rampant these days, and it seems that there isn’t much we can do about it. Well I want you to know that you are loved, and that these storms will pass soon enough. Remember never give up on life and never feel worthless. You were made for greatness and I want everyone who reads this to know that. Forget all the chaos and know that simple fact.

You have worth.

You have value.

You are awesome!

Keep on holding on and strengthening that foundation, because when your current storm in life passes by remember another is waiting around the corner. It’s better to be prepared than be left out in the cold.

With Love,

Rex Felixx

P.S If you ever need to talk let me know.

Fish out of water

Ryan Jarosz July 22, 2021

Remember playing Marco Polo? If you haven’t played that game you either are lying or are just weird person. Classic childhood game of tag but in water and the tagger has his eyes closed. Whenever we played there was always that one kid who would jump out of the pool quietly and stand on the pool deck to hide. i always thought it was cheating but hey sometimes all that matters is winning a simple game of Marco Polo. (was there ever a winner though? Don’t answer that, it’s rhetorical.) Anyways if the tagger found out you were out of the water, they would yell “Fish out of water!!” If you got caught out of water, you became the tagger. I don’t know why I am explaining this game to you since we all know how to play. hahaha

Anyways, “Fish out of water” that statement got me thinking about it recently and how so many people struggle with fitting in.

Why do we feel the need to always fit in or be part of the crowd. Honestly time and time again we have to feel validated.

At a bar- “ I’ll have what she’s having”

Wearing new clothes- “ What you guys think of my overpriced t-shirt?”

I am guilty of it as well, but my entire life I’ve tried to just do my own thing and be my own person. It’s helped me become who I am today. There are so many cookie cutter people in this world making it a boring place. Have some fun, enjoy yourself. If you like to eat Oreos for breakfast go ahead and do that. You eat macaroni and cheese with ketchup, you be you bro. You like the show Friends?….cool. hahaha

Stop with the compartmentalizing of yourself and picking and choosing what to show and hide from others. Start accepting who you are and life is going to be 10000x better than what it is now.

Enough of this rant, I got to go boil some eggs ,

but before I go, I’ll leave y’all with this quote :

“Be who you are and say what you feel,

because those who mind

don’t matter, and those who matter

don’t mind.”

- Dr. Suess

Cheers,

Rex Felixx

Whistle while you work.

Whistle while you work.

Whistle ,Whistle, Not Thistles and Missiles

Ryan Jarosz July 15, 2021

I was walking out of Dick’s Sporting Goods yesterday and I was whistling a rather catchy tune, and some old lady passing by said to her middle aged daughter, “He must be in a happy mood.”

I must say I was taken aback by the comment as I walked back to my car. It made me feel good to see others experience what I have everyday, or try to make an effort to experience. It made me realize how a little more happiness can make someone’s day. I had no idea I was whistling; it comes naturally from when I was a kid til now. My Grandpa Joe (not the same Grandpa from Willy Wonka, if you’re wondering.) always whistled around the house, and I must’ve picked up on it and have been whistling around the house ever since. Happiness should be shared with everybody around you. A positive energy normally exudes from you and is definitely contagious. Don’t believe me? Do this: Next time you are at a party or social interaction, look for the person with the smiles and notice the how the people are around them and how they laughing and enjoying life. Then look for the scowl and stern faced people and how they are lonely and bored to death. Put yourself out there and stop being so serious all the time. You will see happiness attracts the awesome people. Now go chat with the the scowl faced person and brighten their day. Happiness should be for you and everyone.

So go out there and whistle while walking, listen to inspiring podcasts, be your goofy self

and start living your happy life.

Cheers,

Rex Felixx

P.S. Maybe I will go back to school to get my degree in Classical Whistling Performance or Basket Weaving.

Surprise!

Ryan Jarosz April 22, 2021

I enjoy nothing more than to hand out gifts to make people feel joy. Whether its paying the person behind me in line for their coffee at Starbucks. Or finding a green Sasquatch driving a monster truck t-shirt from a thrift shop to surprise a friend with. The elation it brings is amazing. Physical gifts giving is awesome in it’s own right. However many of us don’t realize that we all have gifts and talents that we can share everyday but we choose to bury them deep, and hide them away. I’m not sure if its pride or the feeling that recipient won’t like it. A smile to a stranger can help them through a rough patch in that moment. Listening intently to a friend in need while drinking some beers at happy hour. Handwriting a letter to mail to your family who lives far away. Singing a song to old Nana, Dorothy McShaw. We all have so many talents and gifts to share in our own way. Come to think of it, maybe the world would be a much better place, if we just shared our gifts for good, and try to bring joy out of people every single day.

“Everyone has a gift for something, even if it is the gift of being a good friend." - Marian Anderson

Even when the claws dig deep...

Ryan Jarosz April 15, 2021

Claws digging deep,

Tearing and crushing,

Never any sleep.

Holding me down,

Harder to breathe,

Feeling my lungs squeeze.

Blurry vision,

Losing hope,

Crushed beneath its mighty weight.

Weathered and worn,

Beaten and torn,

Remember,

It’s not over yet,

until you hear the heavenly horns, mourn.

Lately life has been crushing me with her mighty claws, strangling me and holding me down. she’s relentless and won’t let me breathe. It’s strange how sometimes life can be so awesome and wonderful and then in a blink it can change rapidly and dramatically. Like a wool sweater unravelling right before you go out the door for a first date, or treading water while your cramps increase, then a great white shark is right underneath. In these instances of rapid change and chaos all around you. I want you to know that it will get better. Life will get better. Whether it’s trouble at work, or failing at school, or feeling worthless and used, YOU ARE AMAZING! Keep being your awesome, positive self, keep learning how to adapt to this awful chaos. Don’t let these present moments define your future self. Don’t let life beat you and pin you down forever.

Keep Fighting,

Keep crawling,

Never stop trying!

Whatever pain you are going through remember you can do it.

Peace out,

Rex Felixx
